Interesting review. 10 years later I just brought this lens used at a very good price (equivalent of approximately 400usd) overall very happy with it. Sounds like my copy is a bit better than your test copy as it's absolutely tack sharp wide open at 200mm except at very close focus distance were it needs to be stopped down to F5.6 to achieve maximum sharpness.

RE: 5 sec delay mode You can NOT set it for good. You have to set it every time you want to take a photo ! SICK :(((

Great review! Just picked this combo up used and it's great. Just wanted to point out that your 10-30mm lens is indeed a VR (vibration reduction) lens. You can see this if you look at the front of the lens.

Is it possible if you don't put the lens on and try to enter focus mode. The focus mode won't be clickable?
